GROVES, Betty Jane (Marshall) passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack on Monday, May 27, 2024 in Richardson, TX at the age of 73.

Betty was born in Hutchinson, Kansas on October 5, 1950 and soon moved to North Texas, where she would live for the rest of her life. She was a graduate of Richardson High School class of 1969 and married her high school sweetheart, John, in 1971. She then worked as a nurse’s assistant for several years before raising two sons, caring for her family and helping to run the family florist business. Betty then devoted her life to education and was an instructor and administrator for the Richardson ISD for 34 years before recently retiring.

A devoted wife and supportive mother and grandmother, Betty was a soccer mom and a stage mom, a constant supporter of her sons’ and granddaughters' interests and careers, always in the bleachers for every game or in the audience for every play. She loved shopping, antiquing and crafting. Betty was also an avid gardener and loved decorating her home. Betty will be remembered for her spirited and bubbly personality, her humor and hospitality.

Betty is survived by her husband of 53 years, John and their dog Lucy; her son Kelly and husband Kyle of Dallas; her son Matt, his wife Amy and three granddaughters: Brynn, Mia and Allie, of McKinney; her niece Meredith (Marshall) McSpadden of Austin and nephew Jack Marshall III; and nephew Benjamin Moser of Utrecht, Netherlands, and niece Laura Moser of Berlin, Germany. She is preceded in death by her brother Jack Marshall, Jr and her parents Jack Marshall, Sr and Opal Saunders.

A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, June 6 at 2pm at Restland Funeral Home in the Memorial Chapel, 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75243. The family will receive guests at the family home in Richardson immediately following the service.
