Martha Jeanette McCord (Pennington)

The following information about Martha was provided by Pat Gantt Munson, who received it from Martha's sister, Helen Curry.

Martha Jeanette McCord Pennington, age 63 of Richardson, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, July 4, 2014 at Methodist Richardson Medical Center. 

Martha was born on January 25, 1951, the second daughter of William Charles and Margaret Ann (Lancaster) McCord.

Martha is survived by her daughter, Jessica Leigh (Pennington) Witcher, and son-in-law, James Witcher of Frisco, TX and three granddaughters, London, 5 years, Harper, 3 years, and Scarlett 20 months, six sisters, four brothers, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.  Martha was a precious daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father.

Martha graduated from Richardson High School in 1969 where she was an officer on the Eaglette Drill Team.  She graduated with honors from Texas Women’s University in Denton, TX.   Martha was a dedicated teacher, sharing her love and knowledge of English and History at Spence Middle School in Dallas, TX, for 18 years.    Martha considered her teaching both a profession and a ministry.  She loved her students.

Martha had many interests in life, among them painting, reading, Precept Bible Study, ballet, gymnastics, puzzles, word searches and almost any game. Martha was a faithful member of Hunters Glen Baptist Church in Plano, TX.

Martha is already greatly missed.  We are all happier for having known her.
