Mrs. Stella, Ex - Teacher, Succumbs In Delaware
 
Mrs. Lucy E. Stella, 82, of Dover Delaware, former ninth grade Social Studies instructor and guidance counselor at Batavia Junior-Senior High School, died at 1:10 a.m. Sunday, April1, 1979 at Kent General Hospital, Dover. She had been in failing health for five months.
 
A former resident of 70 Summit Street, Mrs. Stella, who moved to Dover 16 years ago, was born in Fowlerville, a daughter of Dominic and Madelyn Broccola Rogers. She earned her degree at Geneseo Normal School, and did graduate work at the University of Columbia, University of Rochester, and University of Colorado. Before coming to Batavia in 1921, she started her teaching career at District Seven School in Lime Rock in 1918. She retired in 1963.
 
Mrs. Stella was a member of New York State Retired Teachers Association, Camden-Wyoming Roundtable at Dover, and principal of the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine Class at Holy Cross Church, Dover, three years.
 
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Willian (Jeanne) Luttrell of Dover; two brothers, Blasé and Donald Rogers, both of Le Roy; a sister, Miss Lucretia Rogers of Le Roy;  three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She was a sister of the late Michael Rogers and Camilla Mancuso.
 
Friends may call at the Lovria Memorial Chapel, Le Roy, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday . Services will be at St. Peter's Church, Le Roy, at 10 a.m. Thursday. Interment will be in St. Columba Cemetery, Caledonia.
 
A Wake Service will be conducted at the chapel at 8 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements were completed by Brady Funeral Services.
