The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia owns one of the eighteen known "Heraldic" Star Globes by German mathematician and astronomer Erhard Weigel (1625-1699). Weigel developed a system for renaming constellations with the coat of arms of European rulers and added civil insignia, creating metal globes now studied as documents of cultural history. The Philadelphia Map Society had a field trip November 18, 2017 and saw this globe. There are four perforations near the bottom of the globe. When the room lights are turned off, and small flashlights placed at the perforations, small pin holes corresponding to the stars light up.
