WMS Authors
Many WMS members are also authors and artists (or vice versa), so from time to time I will add news of an article or book by one of our own. I can't promise to report every book by every member, so please don't be shy about writing to me with information about your work. This is not a commercial entreprise, but just interesting information which I am proud to relate.

Following are four wonderful resources for new enthusiasts as well as experienced collectors (compiled by long-time WMS member Joel Kovarsky):
1. "Book Search Engines on the Web" is a discussion of various internet options for out-of-print materials, including maps, click HERE.
2."Care of Old Maps" is a short, general discussion to introduce the reader to various resources relevant to the conservation and preservation of early maps, click HERE.
3. "Reference Books" is a selective and briefly annotated list of books in English divided into general and continental sections, intended for both beginning and more advanced collectors, click HERE.
4. "Web Resources for Map Collectors" is a selective and briefly annotated list of links--including major, freely accessible sites for digital images--divided into thirteen topical sections. The discussion is geared to English-speaking users, click HERE.

Joel Kovarsky's "The True Geography of our Country: Jefferson's Cartographic Vision" has been released by the University of Virginia Press, and Joel spoke of the book in his December 2014 presentation at the Washington Map Society.
