From Ann Houck Olmsted: I talked to Kay Rubendahl last Saturday. She had undergone vein surgery in both legs and developed sepsis. She was in the hospital for nine weeks and when they could do no more, she went home under hospice care. Kay told me she was very happy; something she has looked forward to all her life. All her family was there and she got to meet her first Great Grandaughter, born in October. We talked about our families and even joked a bit. We talked about death, but not in a sad way. She was really content with dying. I said, "Well maybe your're happy about your dying, but I'm not." She said she would really miss all her Westside friends as they had been such a big part of her life. She asked if I would let everyone know about her situation, which I have. I told her we would have big Westside reunion in heaven and asked her to save me a place at her table.

I sent her an "I'm Thinking of You" e-card on Tuesday, only to learn on Wednesday she passed away on Monday, her wedding anniversary.

I will miss Kay a lot. I loved her because she was feisty and funny and had a huge heart! God's peace Kay!✝️
