Lake Pasadena Estates Neighborhood Association General Meeting Minutes

1. Welcome and Introduction
Cheri Riley was introduced as the new President of the Association.
Roberta Yancey was introduced as the new Vice President.
Stacy Vermette the past President was acknowledged for taking on new responsibilities within
the association.
2. Guest Presentation: Aaron Bryce, President of CONA (Council of Neighborhood
Associations)
West St. Pete CommUNITY Festival
Date: Saturday, September 28th, 2 PM – 9 PM
Location: Azalea Park
Activities will include live music, food trucks, and interactive demonstrations by police, fire, and
EMS, including a helicopter landing.
A donation drive will support various local groups.

Neighborhood Matching Mini-Grant
Encouraged the use of this grant for neighborhood signage projects.
Neighborhood Summit
Scheduled for October 23rd, from 4:30 PM to 7:45 PM at the Center for Health Equity. The
theme will be "Celebrating Your Uniqueness."
Open to up to five neighborhood leaders.
St. Pete Paws Initiative
St. Pete is committed to being a pet-friendly city. Residents are reminded to leash dogs and
pick up after them to protect the bay.
Employee Recognition Program
Residents can nominate outstanding city employees by emailing kudos@stpete.org.
4. Guest Presentation: St. Pete Programs Update: Jeff McCarthy Community Service
Representative Neighborhood Tree Mini-Grant
Overview:Jeff discussed the goal of achieving a 30% tree canopy throughout St. Petersburg.
The grant allows neighborhoods to apply for up to $10,000, with expanded eligibility including
easements in front of properties.
The deadline for applications is September 9th, 2024.

5. Police Report: Officer Cox (District 3)
Reported very low crime numbers over the past three months:
Property Crimes:
1 residential burglary
5 auto-burglaries and 2 auto-thefts, all involving unlocked vehicles with keys left inside.
No active patterns or sprees
Crimes Against Persons:
2 batteries, both domestic disputes.
No active patterns or sprees.
Officer Cox emphasized the importance of locking vehicles to prevent crimes. He also left
information on the National Night Out Event at Tyrone Square Mal 6901 22nd Ave N. October 8,

6. Stewards of Our Lakes: Neighborhood Steward

June Lake Monitoring Event:
600 plants were successfully planted in the lake with the help of the city and Stewards of Our
Urban Lakes (SoUL).
Regular weeding and litter patrols are scheduled for the last Sunday of each month at 7 PM,
meeting on the north side of the big lake.
Residents are invited to join, with a competitive element encouraged.
7. Website Updates: Erica and Chuck Vose
A new website for the association is under development by Erica:

A new mailing list has been established:
LPE Mailing List https://lpena.groups.io
The list includes various interest groups, such as Gardeners, Artists/DIYers, Historians, and
others.
