Janet Cruzen

Jan Cruzen (Francis) was, of course, everyone’s sweetheart.  She was a cheerleader and, in her senior year, homecoming princess.  Plus, she was…well, nice—approachable.  At that early age, she seemed to be the kind of girl who could define herself exactly as she chose.  This is subjective, but my hunch is that she saw herself as balanced:  social, motivated, and involved.  She could rightly choose a fourth descriptor for herself, for Jan was also a gifted athlete.  If she had been born 10 years later—in the new age of Title IX and gender equality in our public schools—she would surely have been our leading scorer in basketball.  These days Jan is a successful small business owner (Safeguard Business Systems) and an active Rotarian.
