Russ Rehm was our class president.  He was not only bold in stature but bold in character.  He was an athlete (excelling in wrestling and football) and a scholar.  After high school, he was accepted at the United States Merchant Marine Academy.  In his career, he was a minister, counselor, and building contractor (and occasional boat builder).  His leadership skills were already strong in high school; those skills flourished throughout his adult years. 

On a personal note, I tend to be discriminating in my selection of friends.  I am invariably drawn by those who walk a fine line between self-confidence and humility.  Russ is a man who has masterfully found that balance, and I am honored to call him “friend.”
