Douglas Berg, age 75, of Pelican Rapids, MN died on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at Essentia Health St. Mary’s, Detroit Lakes, MN with his loving family by his side.

Doug was born on February 13, 1948, to Norman and Inez (Randklev) Berg.  He graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1966 and then enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves and National Guard where he served from 1967 to 1973.  On April 19, 1969, Doug was united in marriage with June Haney at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids.  Doug worked much of his life in the food industry, including Hormel, West Central Turkeys, Zacky, and Bausch Farms. Additionally, he worked at Dynamic Homes, owned a cleaning business, and was part owner and operator of Bridges Bistro. Doug and June were an adventurous couple who did not remain in one place too long, but ultimately returned to Pelican Rapids, the place they called home.

Doug loved being surrounded by family and friends and was always the life of the party.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, pontooning, and driving convertibles.  Doug had the uncanny ability to make people feel comfortable and welcome wherever he went. He touched so many lives with his humor, love, and kindness.

Doug is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 54 years, June; his children who admired him and learned so much from him; Dylan (Sara) Berg of Helena, MT; Teena (Nick) Jessen of Pelican Rapids, MN and Jesse Berg of Lakeshore, MN, his grandchildren who absolutely adored him; Devon and Erin Berg, Cody (Tess) Pixley and Cassie (Sam Klovstad), Allison Jessen, and Berklee and Charlee Berg. He was also blessed with five great-grandchildren whom he loved to play with; Kloe, Kayson, and Finnley Klovstad and Addisyn and Brynnlee Berg. He is also survived by brothers; David (Carolyn) and Mike (Linda) Berg, sisters; LaVonne (Vern) Benson and Ilene Tehven; sisters-in-laws; Janett Lowe and Geraldine Berg; brother-in-law Robert Haney; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Chuck Berg, mother-in-law Christina (Sylvester) Kelch, father-in-law Myron Haney, brothers-in-law Donald Lowe and Lowell Tehven.

Visitation: Friday, September 15, 2023, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids, MN. 

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 15, 2023, at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids, MN with Pastor Alex Ohman officiating.
