Edward Lipinski

Obituary

Edward Albert Lipinski, beloved husband of Sophie (nee Mucz), passed away peacefully with his wife, daughter, and son by his side on March 18, 2023.

He spent his last two months in the hospital, and passed the way he lived life – on his own terms and with no regrets.

Besides his loving wife Sophie, Edward is survived by his two children; Danny (Vandy) and Lisa (Peter), his two granddaughters; Tasha and Shelby, his sister-in-law; Mary Miller, numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren, and Leonard, Cora, and Brooklyn Langlois who were like family to him.

Edward was predeceased by his parents; Albert and Stella, his in-laws; Nicholas and Stella Mucz, and brother-in-law; Walter.

Edward was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on December 23rd, 1934. He spent his formative years in the North End of Winnipeg, where he met some of his closest, lifelong friends, but most importantly, his wife Sophie. Eddie and Sophie married on October 3rd, 1959. Eddie graduated from the University of Manitoba, class of 1962, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. He was employed by the Province of Manitoba, Department of Transportation, where he worked loyally for over 32 years. Eddie and his family were transferred to Steinbach, Manitoba in 1972. Many lifelong friends were made at work, the local curling rink, and on the golf course. Eddie bought land at Buffalo Point on Lake of the Woods and spent many weekends there building his family’s cabin, watching wildlife, and playing cards with family and friends. In 1994, Eddie began his favorite job – retirement! This is where he really excelled, as he was able to do the things he loved and spend 25 wonderful winters in Arizona.

In 2005, Eddie and Sophie made the move to Okotoks, Alberta to be closer to family and watch their granddaughters grow. The familiar trend of spending time with family, making new friends, and enjoying life continued.

Edward was one-of-a-kind, and will be dearly missed.

Thank you to the doctors (Dr. Vyse) and nurse team on the third floor of the High River Hospital. The care you gave was exceptional and we are forever grateful.
