Mark W. Gaiffe
Mark William Gaiffe of Mesa, Arizona, passed away on March 14, 2026. Born on December 1, 1951, in Columbus, Ohio, he was the son of Joseph and Eileen (Bodie) Gaiffe.
At a young age, the family moved to Sand Beach, Ohio where Mark got his love for the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He graduated from Cardinal Stritch High School in Ohio in 1968/69 and moved to Arizona with the family.
Mark proudly served his community in law enforcement, working as a police officer with the Phoenix Police Department for three years, followed by 20 years with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. In 1985 he received the Lifesaving Medal Award and later retired with the rank of Sergeant.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, watching sunsets and moonrises, taking his early morning “security” walks and evening swims.
He was a loving and generous father to his daughter, Rhiannon (Justin) Mikkelson, and a proud grandfather to Katie, Travis, and Tyler. Mark was known for his vast knowledge and willingness to help others.
He is survived by his daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren; his brother Michael (Karen) Gaiffe, his sisters, Joanne Gaiffe, Judy Gaiffe, his niece, Jamie Johnston; and his nephews, Chris (Belisa) Gaiffe, Tony (Liz) Gaiffe, Jake (Emily) Johnston, and Pauldean Tamras Piere.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
